Riley Demaree

Birth: Born around 1985 in Kansas.  

Family Information: Son of Leonard and Ella (Demaree) Voorhees.

Step-son of Arthur Voorhees.

Brother of Viola (Demaree) Gilbert.  


Pre-Colony History: In 1895 he was living in Kansas with his mother and sister. In 1900 he and his sister were living in Kansas with both their parents. By 1905, both children were living with their mother and step-father, Arthur S. Voorhees, in Topeka, Kansas.

In July 1922 he came to the colony from California, planning to make his home with his mother, step-father and sister.

Job in Colony: In 1922 he was working with the crew stacking wood.  

Other Info:  

Post-Colony History: In 1930 he and his mother were living in Arkansas where he worked as a farmer. In 1936 he and his mother living in Ink, Arkansas and it was reported that he was married, but that never interfered with his checker playing.
