Museum the New Llano Colony

Richard Kapotsy

Birth: He was born in November 1927 in DeRidder, Louisiana.

Description:

Pre-Colony History:

Family Information: Son of Albert and Margit Kapotsy.

Half-brother of Albert, Jr., Margaret, Florence and Charles Kapotsy.

Job in Colony:

Home in Colony: In 1930 the family was listed twice on the US census -- once in the colony and once in Leesville, LA, so possibly around this time they were making the move to Leesville and somehow were counted twice. In both cases his father, Albert, was listed as a plumber, but the page in Leesville had additional family members that were not present on the colony listing -- Albert's oldest daughter, Emma, and his sister, Mary Kapotsy (who was a nurse in DeRidder).

Other Info:

Post-Colony History: In 1940 he was living in Leesville, Louisiana with his parents.

He was enlisted in the U.S. Army from July 1951 through April 1953.

Death: He died in 2007 -- last known residence was in Rosepine, Louisiana and he was buried in Barrancas National Cemetery at Pensacola, Florida. The inscription on his tombstone reads "PFC USA KOREA 1927-2007".
