Daniel D. "Dannie" Wooley (Alternate spelling Woolley)

Birth: He was born around 1916 in Indiana.  

Family Information: Son of Alonzo W. and Jennie Wooley.

Brother of Alonzo "Tot", Jeanette, Ruth, Ross and Joan and Robert Wooley.

Job in Colony: In October 1931, he along with Chas. Jaufroid, helped Bartlett build a log cabin in the center of the garden. Everyone was wondering who Bert Bertino would put in it.

In December 1932 he was listed as one of the Rice Ranch (near Elton, LA) workers. In 1934, he was working in the tin shop and sheet metal department, along with Willhart Maki. The shop was very well fixed so far as equipment [was] necessary, but lack[ed] supplies. Much outside work was done in the shop which "added to the [colony's] income not a little."

Post-Colony History:  

Death: He died on July 16, 1936 at Grand Prairie, Texas by a charge of 110 volts through the shorting of an electric drill in the American Body and Equipment Plant there. Every effort was made to resuscitate him by the doctors of the plant, by the use of first-aid manipulations, the application of the pulmotor and other devices in the hands of skilled applicators; however with no effect. An hour and a half was spent in this work.

Interment took place at the Rose Hill cemetery, twelve miles distant toward Fort Worth, in a plot donated by Mrs. M.V. Mobley as a token of appreciation for Dan's donation of blood on three occasions to her recently deceased daughter, Margaret.

Mr. Wooley and Jeannette were unable to be present, though Mrs. Wooley, with her sons Robert (who lived in Grand Prairie, TX) and Alonzo were present -- Doc Williams transported the family members who were still living in the colony.

Mrs. Wooley remained in the plains city for a few days in order to attend to the details of insurance and the like. "Tot" Wooley and "Doc" Williams returned to the colony on July 19th.
