Jeanette Self Alternate spelling Jean Nettie

Birth: She was born in 1891 at Sabine Parish, Louisiana.

Family Information: Wife of Frank Self.

Mother of Elliott, Hortense, Wanda and Quintin Self.  

Description:  

Pre-Colony History: In 1900 she was living at Toro in Sabine Parish, Louisiana with her parents and siblings.

In 1930 she was living in Leesville, Louisiana with her husband and children.

Home in Colony: In March 1931 she and the children moved into the colony townsite from the Anacoco Creek sawmill location so that her children could attend school.

Job in Colony: In July 1931 she was working in the laundry.

In August 1931 the laundry crew included the Mesdames Synoground, Dora Kemp, J.L. Dougherty, Van Antwerp, Self, Dix and the Misses Hortense Self and Jeannette Wooley

Other Info:  

Post-Colony History: In 1935 and 1940 she was living in Vernon Parish, Louisiana with her husband and son, Quintin.  

Death: She died in 1975 and was buried in the Mitchell Cemetery at Anacoco, Louisiana. Her name on the tombstone reads "Jean Nettie Self."
