Anna "Annie" (Shipman) Kimball

Birth: Born around 1886 in Mississippi.  

Family Information: Sister of Will Shipman.

Wife of Charles Kimball.

Mother of Ernest and Gladys (Kimball) Thomas.  

Description:  

Pre-Colony History: In 1900 she and her brother, Will, were living with her mother and aunt in Orange, Texas. In 1920 she was living with her husband, their three children, and her mother (M.A. Shipman), in Orange, Texas.

In 1928 Annie and her children, Ernest and Gladys, from Orange, Texas, visited her brother at the Rice Ranch. During the visit, they cheerfully put on their working togs and helped the Bantas with the domestic duties and helped out in the dairy.  

Home in Colony: In 1930 she was living with her husband, their two younger children, and her brother in the colony.  

Job in Colony: In May 1930 Maxine Palmer helped the Mesdames Oberleitner, Hewett, Kimball, Hardy, and Lacefield; the Misses Lois Thompson, Bonnie Mason, Florence Case and Rhea Mae Baldwin; and the Messrs. Petersen, Wichman and DeBoer serve dinner under the direction of Mrs. Walter Fread.

In October 1931 and into 1932 she was working in the hotel kitchen, helping her daughter wash dishes.  

Other Info: In 1929 her eldest son, Buel, and his pretty bride of a year, Mrs. Billie, visited her in the colony. They traveled 1180 miles from the oil fields of Wink, Texas to visit the family, bringing with them Mrs. A.G. Courmier of Orange, Texas who turned out to be an old sweetheart of "Uncle Will's".

In September 1931, she, her son and daughter, along with her brother and his wife, Mrs. (Casey) Shipman, attended a reception at the Roof Garden where they enjoyed cards, music, dancing and refreshments.  

Post-Colony History:  

Death: She died from heart problems in June 1957 in Texas.
