Fredrick Jernberg

Birth: He was born in 1889 in Nebraska.  

Family Information: Husband of Reka Jernberg.

Father of Ellen, Elmer, Ruth and Elsie Jernberg.  

Description: On his WWI draft registration he was described as a farmer -- tall, stout with gray eyes and light hair. In April 1942 he was described still as a farmer -- 5'10" tall; 160 pounds with blue eyes, gray hair and a light complexion.  

Pre-Colony History:

Home in Colony: In March 1929 the family moved out to the old Phillips place (at the Anacoco sawmill) and the Killian family took the house they'd been living in.

In 1930 the family was living in a home inside the colony.  

Job in Colony: In 1930-31 he was working as a farmer in the colony. In September 1931 he was taking care of the late cow peas -- along with Quipp, Bartram, Grover, Ogden, McClurg, Harry Morgan, Luther Mackentyre, Robert Roe, Fred Busick, Waters and "Dad" Stevens.

In November 1935 he volunteered for extra evening work at the crate factory in order to fill an urgent order. Other volunteers included: Director Eugene Carl, Industrial Foreman Chet Page, editor and teacher Emery, Willie Brown, Elmer Jernberg, Sylvester, Arlene and Mrs. Watson.  

Other Info: In 1928 he was one of the founding members of the local Conscientious Objectors Union; Theodore Atworth served as the first Secretary-Treasurer with O.E. Enfield serving as the President. The organization was planned to be international, composed of people who refused to go to war as a matter of conscience. Charter members included: Theodore Atworth, Mary H. Atworth, Emily H. Post-Colony History: In 1940 he was living in Vernon Parish, Louisiana with his wife and daughter, Elsie.  

Death: He died in 1973 and was buried in Sterling, Colorado.
