Mary Elizabeth Ashlock

Birth: She was born in 1887 at Illinois.  

Family Information: Wife of Whelo Ashlock.

Mother of Priscilla, Paul, Caleb, Ruth, Mark, Naomi and Coleman Ashlock.  

Description:  

Pre-Colony History: In 1920 she was living in Illinois with her husband and children.

In March 1929 the family drove in from Illinois -- the father, mother and seven children all looked bright and healthy.

Home in Colony: In 1930 she was living in the colony with her husband and seven children.  

Job in Colony: In April 1929 she was working at the store; she and Mrs. Baldwin expected to soon add a lunch counter using the small room north of the store in the brick building.

In August 1929 the Ashlock family was running a refreshment stand in the Roof Garden where they sold to visitors who wished to spend a little money on cold drinks, Llano candy and such things.

In September 1929 Comrade Clark was in charge of the store with assistants Mrs. Mickey and Mrs. Ashlock.  

Other Info:  

Post-Colony History: In 1940 she was divorced and living in Houston, Texas with two of her children and three lodgers.  

Death: She died in 1964 at Houston, Texas and was buried at Forest Park Cemetery.
